Ho Hum Hems

by Scott Thomas Outlar

You can lick

my spent DNA

off the seventh rung

of the evolutionary ladder

Long coat, gray of whisker

the silver thread laced around

a pinky swear of progress

Rubber stamp the rite of passage

righteous tactile impoundment

concrete sweetheart, knock, knock

Promise the creed is sewn

with comfort and agile fingers

No needle spared

in the great yarning of life
